    99% passengers are fooled by Indian Railways by rejecting the refund for one reason or the other. Read more consumer forum asks Railways to pay .. 99% never go to consumer court. You need to file complaint with nearest forum to get the amount. And it's very simple but little time taking.

    It could be that this notification rule is by IRDA. Pl. see here: http://www.policyholder.gov.in/How_To_Make_a_Claim__Motor.aspx . I've also talked to an PSU insurance agent. What you should have done in this case is to give the theft date same as the date of filing FIR.
