COMPLAINT AGAINST DR. BINAYAK DEB OF RN TAGORE HOSPITAL, KOLKATA

#1
Patient Details: 17510000344828
Mrs. Patralekha Chakraborty / Female / 53 Years 5 days of 277 B.B. Chatterjee Road, Kolkata – 700042
Under Treatment of Doctor: Dr. Binayak Deb
Angiogram and Angioplasty on 30/09/2013 (CAG + PTCA)
Discharge Date: 02/10/2013
Date of Death: 11/11/2013
My wife Patralekha Chakraborty was admitted to Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences on 27/09/2013 with minor chest pain. She was admitted to the emergency ward and later transferred to ICU. After undergoing all the related tests, Dr. Binayak Deb was of the opinion that Angiogram and Angioplasty was the only solution available. She underwent angiogram and angioplasty on 30/09/2013 and got discharged on 02/10/2013. The doctor categorically explained and convinced us for undergoing angioplasty for above mentioned patient and assured us that this will deter any heart problems for the next 10 to 15 years. After the discharge we tried getting in touch with the doctor several number of times complaining about certain issues patient was facing however the doctor denied giving us any appointment. We were scheduled to take the patient after 1month to the hospital for a complete checkup and overview under the guidance of Dr. Deb. The doctor even denied us this opportunity and in the meantime we were forced to consult other doctor due to his utter disrespect for his professional commitments. On 11/11/2013 suddenly my wife started suffering a major breathing problem at around 3:30pm and we immediately planned to take her to RN Tagore Hospital. Since her health was deteriorating fast we were forced to take her to Ruby General Hospital which was closer to our house. However unfortunately she expired at around 4:15pm at Ruby General Hospital. The doctors at the hospital we took to (Ruby General Hospital) and our family doctor confirmed that it was a case of a Massive Heart Attack.
Now my question is if the patient dies just after 40 days of angioplasty then what is the benefit of doing Angioplasty? If the doctor was not sure of the result of Angioplasty then why not this doctor advice us for Bypass Surgery? After thinking about various angles we felt that either doctor would have used the inferior quality stent or it would be sheer carelessness of doctor for implantation of stent. We felt the chances of using inferior quality stent is more because doctors can earn more money in less time otherwise he could have suggested Bypass surgery which is more of time consuming work.
Though the above mentioned allegations by us cannot be conclusively proved since the patient is no more however the carelessness and arrogance of the doctor towards the patient and after she was discharged from the hospital can be proved without a doubt.
We understand that life and death is natural process but we want take action against the doctor’s arrogance and carelessness attitude in treating his patient. We hereby request you to take action against Dr. Binayak Deb so that in near future atleast he should realize our pain and refrain himself from treating patients with such arrogance and carelessness and your action can safeguard ones life.
