Harrowing LG Customer Care experience

This is regarding an LG Direct Drive washing machine model # T7018AEEP5 that I had (unfortunately) purchased from LGE on 18-Oct, 2011. Ever since it has been giving me a recurrent error "AE" and would not work at all. Each time it stopped working, it was taken to the service center and kept there for a couple of weeks to well over a month. After the last time it was returned to me in mid Dec, 2013, despite my protests that it had already been at their service center over half a dozen times and for several months (each time for 2 weeks to 6 weeks at a stretch) in a span of about an year for the same problem and it should be replaced. I had refused to accept the defective product from the servic center the last time (complaint # RNA131116077997). I was however assured that the problem has been fixed entirely and would not recur and was charged over Rs. 1800/-. Yet in about 40 days the same problem has stalled the machine again. The customer care executive assured me that the case (current complaint # RNA140201099502) has been opened on priority and that someone would call me in 2 hours. As always in over 24 hours now no one has called!!! Interestingly each time I would call any of these guys I would be told that someone would get back in a defined time, however that never happened even once! I had to call someone or the other endlessly to eventually get no information to incomplete/misguiding information. No one actually cared about my woes and pain however everyone did without fail mention the mechanical "We are really sorry and we understand your problem" crap. That doesn’t surprise me now because I have understood a few facts about their culture quite clearly.

The customer means a milking machine to them.
Their 1 minute is undefined and could be as much as several months as if they exist in a different temporal dimension. I feel the great physicists of the world figuring out "Time" tirelessly should consult LG to understand their discovery and technology!
Their product quality means luck. (If the customer is lucky the product would last)
Their customer care means exasperating the customer to a limit that they stop complaining.
Their engineers do not understand their products and are incompetent to fix them.
They would respond only when they see a problem heading their way.
And their words have no value and its intention is just to silence the suffering and complaining customer.

My only advice to anyone buying LG product is this. Their product may or may not work as expected or promised (I have other LG products working fine) but if unfortunately the product on which you spent your hard earned turns out to be defective the LG customer service will make you cry in blood and you will regret, as I do on, your decision. Worse you wouldn't eventually get a satisfactory resolution!

Further update on this...an engineer from LG visited today and in the very first use the same problem occurred and the washing machine has stopped functioning!!! I might as well through this "High Quality and Expensive" product in the bin and swear not to buy any LG product ever. It has already given me more than enough head ache!

LG Customer Care has been infamous for this , i am beginning to believe that even their high end products are of cheaper make than local chinese products.
What adds to the misery is that their after sales service is no better .
Beware buyers from buying LG , your sparkling new buy might turn into an ordeal and then snowball into giving you nightmares.
The apathy from LG support is just agonizing , i had a problem with my Air Conditioner which surprisingly developed problems in the copper piping in just 2 years shortly after the warranty expired .
The engineer said that the pipes need to be changed which cost me a lot , about 1/3rd of the cost of a new AC.
Oddly enough my 6 year old Whirlpool air conditioner is still running perfectly , with no issues till date.
This just shows how bad quality the products are , i had to deal with their service post the warranty , its lucky i didnt have to deal with it before , as their service is pathetic in warranty , apparently they have no comittment to resolve the problem.
Not that it was better after warranty , but it would have left me with a bitter feeling .

This is amazing!!! I was informed by the customer care yesterday that an engineer would visit again and the service center would be instructed accordingly. Again someone was supposed to call in 24 hours. After waiting for about 24 hours when I did not get any call I called up the customer care I was told that my washing machine has been fixed already, yesterday! When I told the person that it has not been, he retorted "but as per our information it has been fixed!". Anyway I have been given another request number RNA140203049635 and a 2 hrs callback assurity!!!

Further update... after registering my complaint a second time and when no one contacted me for 2 days, I got a survey sms and I gave a thumbs down to LG. I further wrote to them regarding my intention to create awareness regarding their service and product quality through social media sites. It was then that I saw that there was some sincerity amd professionalism in their approach. I was visited by a senior technician who arrived at about the time he had told. He made a thorough checkup of the machine and informed the reason why the machine broke down every now and then even after the PCB and other parts were replaced every time was a faulty wiring. He told me that he would replace the pcb as well as the wiring in a max of 2 days but it was done the next day itself. Amazingly while in the past for changing the pcb the machine was taken and kept at the LG service center for weeks, this time it was done at my home itself. The machine has been running fine for a few days now and I really hope and as I have been told that the root cause has been resolved. I only wish if the same sincerity and professionalism was shown earlier a lot good could have been done to a customer as well as to the brand LG. Anyway, I feel I owe a thanks to them for understanding my woe (however delayed it was) and making a sincere approach to solve it. Thanks also to all of you members who read my story and shared your views.
